A 4-day introductory training. Dialogical practice is an emerging approach to family therapy, influenced by the Finnish model of care, Open Dialogue. This training introduces the core concepts of the theory and practice of Open Dialogue (OD), including current practices in northern Europe, Scandinavia, UK and Australia. The primary focus of the training will be dialogical practice, the clinical practices that underpin and emerge from OD. There will be a particular focus on open network meetings and working therapeutically with families & wider systems in a variety of clinical contexts.

WHO IS THIS TRAINING FOR?

For therapists & clinicians from private practice, government or non-govt agencies who work with individuals, couples, families, wider systems.

LEARNING GOALS

  • To be aware of theoretical concepts which inform Open Dialogue & dialogical practice.

  • To gain a beginning understanding of dialogical ideas and their application to differing areas of clinical practice.

  • To experience the elements of a dialogical approach to open network meetings and family sessions.

  • To gain an increased sense of the use of self in the dialogical approach to practice.
